Opening first in 1978, today Zanies celebrates 35 years of laughter. The comedy night club originated by Rick Uchwat in Old Town and has since grown to open counterparts in Rosemont, IL, St. Charles, IL, and Nashville, TN. The original still stands at 1548 N. Wells St. and is home to unforgettable stand-up acts that will keep you laughing long after heading home. Zanies showcases a variety of comedians such as up-and-coming locals and well-known celebrities. Star appearances include Chelsea Handler, Jay Pharoah, and Richard Lewis. Come visit Chicago’s original standup comedy club for an evening of side-splitters and gut-busters guaranteed to get you just a little closer to those six-pack abs you’ve always wanted. Located just north of the Loop, off the Sedgewick stop on the CTA Brownline. Admittance to the shows requires a valid 21+ photo I.D. and is $25 per ticket, though prices vary for special events. Each attendee is also required to purchase two items minimum from the food and beverage menu. Shows happen every night, Sun.-Thurs. at 8:30pm, Fri. at 8:30 and 10:30pm, and Sat. at 7:00, 9:00, and 11:15pm. To purchase tickets call 312.337.4027 or see the box office at 1548 N. Wells St.
